Event to Celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relationship Establishment between Vietnam and Cuba and the 57th of the Cuban National Day

On December 25^th, 2015, at the conference hall of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations, in cooperation with line agencies and the Consulate General of Cuba to Ho Chi Minh city to organize an event   On the occasion the 55^th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Cuba (December 02^nd, 1960 – December 02^nd, 2015) and the 57^th of the Cuban National Day (January 01^st, 1959 – January 01^st, 2016).

Besides the city leaders', the Consul General's – Mr. Bernabe Garcia Valido and his spouse's participation, members of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association and representatives of Labiofam Company Limited – a Cuban company operated in the city also presented at the event which made it more successful and memorable.

Expressed in their speeches at the event, both Mr. Vo Thanh Thong – Chairman of the People's Committee and Mr. Bernabe Garcia Valido, Consul General of Cuba to Ho Chi Minh city all emphasized the friendly, pure and loyal relationship between Vietnam and Cuba since the first date of the diplomatic relation establishment on December 02^nd, 1960. Furthermore, it is "a special and unprecedented relationship and a model of international relations" as called by the Former Cuban President Fidel Castro, which has been unceasingly nurtured and developed by leaders of both countries.

In fact, both Former Vietnamese and Cuban Presidents – Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro all respectively acknowledged the purity and loyalty of such relationship via their famous sayings: "Vietnam and Cuba are twin brothers, two soldiers of the vanguard, one in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the West. When Vietnam sleeps, Cuba is awake on its duty for Vietnam and vice versa" and "For Vietnam, we are ready to give even our own blood". As a result, such wonderful relationship needs to be enhanced as expected by the two former respectable Presidents.

Therefore, towards the end of the event, leaders of the People's Committee of Can Tho city and Consulate General of Cuba to Ho Chi Minh city expressed their expectations for a further development of this relationship. They all agreed that in the future, leaders of both countries should unceasingly encourage the young generations to contribute their efforts to the renovations of Vietnam and Cuba, to the continuation of the existing magnificent relationship, to a deepened solidarity and comprehensive cooperation and to an absolute belief between two Parties, two Governments and two peoples.
