Ambassador of Canada paid courtesy call to Chairman of Can Tho city People's Committee

In the afternoon of  August 10, 2015, at the building of the Can Tho city People's Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho city People's Committee had a warm meeting with HE. Mr. David Devine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam. At the meeting, there was also the participation of the representatives of relevant Departments and enterprises located in the area of Can Tho city.

The purpose of the visit to Can Tho city is to connect the education system between Can Tho city and Canada. HE. Mr. David Devine said that he have had a talk with 200 students of Can Tho University on education and cultural exchange. Thanks to this meeting, he also hopes that he has chance to understand more about the potentials, opportunities to invest in Can Tho city so that he can provide that information to the Canadian enterprises. He happily told that the total bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Canada reached 3.3 billion USD in 2014.

On the occasion of the visit of HE. Mr. David Devine, the enterprises of Can Tho city express their expectation to be facilitated in competitiveness and development on their leading products like rice, fertilizers and so on.

Chairman of the Can Tho city People's Committee Le Hung Dung give a brief introduction on the socio – economic development, potentials, investment opportunities to Can Tho city and processing and industrial zones  as well as the trade, services, tourism development of Can Tho city. He hopes that HE. Mr. Ambassador will create favorable conditions for Can Tho city enterprises having more opportunity to access the market of Canada and introduce Canadian enterprises and localities which have similar conditions with Can Tho city to establish cooperation relation and friendship.
