IPU-132 assembly wraps up, issuing Hanoi Declaration

The 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) entered its closing session in Hanoi on Wednesday after five days of working, with the adoption of the Hanoi Declaration on "The Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Action."

The purpose of the trip besides meeting the city's leaders, H.E. Ambassador Preeti Saran would like to brief them with events taken place between 02 countries after her last visit to Can Tho city at the beginning of 2014 – February 2014 - and based on discussed points of the events, she emphasized areas to further boost up the cooperation relation between Can Tho city and India.

Specifically, from February 2014 onwards, high ranking visits have been conducted by leaders of both countries to discuss and agree on cooperation sectors between Vietnam and India with a strong focus on agriculture; garment and textile; pharmaceutical; and tourism. For Can Tho city, India wants to build up its relationship with the city in agriculture; tourism; education and training; and investment.

Responded by both Secretary Tran Thanh Man and Chairman Le Hung Dung that all the issues raised by H.E. Ambassador are important and key sectors in which Can Tho city wants to concentrate in in the near future. They were both happy and showed their commitments on the Ambassador's suggestions for the city's willingness and support in Indian upcoming activities, which one of these is the UN International Yoga Day planned to be organized all across Vietnam in June 21st 2015.

Towards the end of the meeting sessions, both sides agreed to conduct frequent visits and information sharing to tighten the relationship, which was strengthened via the two leaders' acceptance on H.E. Ambassador Preeti Satan's invitation to visit India at their most convenient time.
