Courtesy Call of Russian Consul General to Can Tho City People's Committee

On June 30^th 2015, Mr. Le Hung Dung, Chairman of the Can Tho city People's Committee together with the relevant Departments of Can Tho city had a warm meeting with Mr. Popov Alexey Vladimivorich, Consul General of Russian Federation in Ho Chi Minh city.

At the meeting, Chairman of the city People's Committee expressed deep thanks to the people of Russian Federation that supported Vietnam in the process of national liberation and nation protection. Vietnam and Russian Federation have a long special traditional relationship. He hoped that with the important role and position of Consul General of Russia in Vietnam, he will keep on supporting Can Tho city in particular, Mekong Delta region in general to call for Russian investors to visit, cooperate and invest in Can Tho city in the future. In addition, Chairman of the city People's Committee suggested Mr. Consul General of Russia to give support for the working mission of Can Tho city that expectedly visit Russia at the end of 2015 for investment and trade promotion. He emphasized that Russian Federation has been the great importer on agricultural product of Vietnam while Mekong Delta region has a big amount of agricultural product with a very cheap price. Therefore, he hopes that Can Tho city will have opportunity to cooperate to push up trading in this area, especially to promote the export of catfish and rice, the two major products of Can Tho city to market of Russia.

To response to Chairman of the city People's Committee, Consul General Mr. Popov Alexey Vladimivorich expressed his sincere thanks Can Tho city leaders who saved time to have a meeting today and affirmed that with his role, he will try to connect the regions of Russia with the ones of Vietnam to promote the cooperation activities in different areas, especially in the key areas as education, health care and so on. Furthermore, he also suggested Can Tho city leaders must think more about organizing tourist tours to attract more Russian tourists to Can Tho city since the number of Russian tourists to Can Tho city in past time was still small, especially paying attention to the price competition to stimulus the tourism need of Russian tourists.
