JICA Volunteer’s Farewell Courtesy Call to City Leaders
On the morning of June 14th, 2017, Mr. Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city hosted and chaired a courtesy call by JICA's representatives – Ms. Mamiko Minagawa, Senior Advisor for JOCV and Senior Volunteer and Ms. Yamasaki Momoko – Volunteer at Can Tho Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center.
At the meeting, Ms. Yamasaki Momoko briefly reported her given tasks at the Center under a position of a physiotherapist in the 2015 – 2017 period. On this occasion, she additionally expressed her sincere gratitude towards city leaders' support and favorable conditions given to her during her volunteer service here. Followed by her speech, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lap, Director of the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center complimented Ms. Mamoko's knowledge sharing in children rehabilitation and dedicated contributions to his center's patients, especially cerebral palsy children.
For his part, Mr. Nam thanked for Ms. Momoko's diligent work and expressed his expectations to welcome more JICA's volunteers to Can Tho city in the future. Moreover, he hoped that after 2 years of working and living here, Ms. Momoko will act as a bridge to connect Japanese individuals, organizations and enterprises with Can Tho city in order to further publicize its image, development potentials and cooperation needs to Japanese community.
In response to Mr. Nam's speech, Ms. Mamiko Minagawa, Senior Advisor for JOCV and Senior Volunteer highly appreciated and was thankful towards the city guarantee of security, safety and friendly working environment provided to Ms. Momoko in particular and other JICA's volunteers in general. Based on the discussion points at the meeting, Ms. Mamiko expected that JICA could send more high quality volunteers to Can Tho city to help its development process as well as to tighten the cooperation between Japan and Can Tho in the future.
