Vietnam - Netherlands Mekong Delta Business Forum

Vietnam - Netherlands Mekong Delta Business Forum organised by the Dutch diplomatic mission in Vietnam, VCCI Can Tho and the Dutch Business Association in Vietnam took place on 8th April in Can Tho City.

Attending the event were the Netherlands Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman, Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho City, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, together with leaders of other provinces in the Mekong Delta area. There is also the participation of UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam Ms. Caitlin Wiesen, and more than 200 delegates from government agencies, research institutions, and Vietnamese and Dutch businesses.

The Vietnam - Netherlands Mekong Delta Business Forum 2022 is a platform for stakeholders to meet and have dialogues on challenges in the delta in key areas of water management, agricultural-water technology, and logistics. It also offered a platform for Dutch and Vietnamese businesses and experts to exchange insights and information and creative and innovative solutions, thus to explore business opportunities through diverse partnership schemes.

The audiences also had the opportunity to listen to experts discussing the Mekong Delta Plan, as well as key findings of VCCI on investment in the Mekong Delta area. Among these findings, there are positive signs for potential investors, including the integrated master plan helps boost the development of the delta, public investment from the government attracts more investors to the region, unofficial fees are relatively low, not to mention abundant ingredient sources and the improvement of labor productivity.
