Can Tho City handed over medical supplies to Ho Chi Minh City COVID-19 Recovery Hospital

On behalf of Can Tho City, Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Bach, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, has handed over the medical supplies for fighting against COVID-19 to Ho Chi Minh City COVID-19 Recovery Hospital. These supplies were mobilized and donated by Dr. Vien Doan (from Riverside City, the United States of America) and sent to Can Tho City and Ho Chi Minh City COVID-19 Recovery Hospital.

The supplies include N95 masks, hand sanitizers, face shields, coveralls, and oximeters, with total value of 46,079 USD (equivalent to 1,045,993,300 VND). Previously in 2020, Can Tho City also sent medical supplies, including 1,000 N95 masks, 1,000 medical gloves, 1,000 medical coveralls, and 5,000 medical masks, to Riverside City for its fight against COVID-19 during the first outbreak in the USA.

Can Tho and Riverside signed their Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in 2015. Since then, two cities have exchanged high-level delegations and had several cooperation activities in education and trade. Two mayors of Riverside have paid their visits to Can Tho, while the Chairman of the City People's Council and Chairman of the City People's Committee led delegations to Riverside. Besides, some universities in Riverside also signed MoUs with local universities and institutions in Can Tho. There were two groups of Can Tho officials studying short-term courses at the University of California, Riverside in urban development and waste management.
