Can Tho City on GCoM member profile
Recently, Can Tho City has been selected to be on GCoM member profile for its monthly online newsletter. The city joined GCoM (Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy) on 18 February 2019, and lately, GCoM and its partners, IUC Asia and UN-Habitat have supported Can Tho in preparing its climate action plan (CAP). The two sides have worked together to organize online trainings for Can Tho's task force this year, due to the impacts of COVID-19. The trainings focus on climate adaptation and mitigation, as well as climate vulnerability and risk assessment, so that the task force can prepare for their CAP.
The newsletter article highlights climate challenges that Can Tho has been facing and its current biggest problems beside flooding and salinity intrusion. In addition, the article states the local climate initiatives by Can Tho, covering a wide range of sectors, from green growth and GHG emission mitigation to green tourism.
