Can Tho City has organized a delegation to visit and work with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Can Tho Friendship Organizations Association, Can Tho Investment Promotion Agency, and Can Tho Export and Processing Industrial Zones Authority. Mr. Chung Wen Cheng, Chief Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, together with representatives of Economic, Culture, Education, and Tourism Divisions, hosted the meeting with Can Tho delegation.

Mr. Chung Wen Cheng presented that the two sides' trade turnover has recently reached 33.1 billion USD, and Taiwan currently ranks 4^th among countries and territories investing in Vietnam. In 2020, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City has planned some investment and trade activities for Taiwanese enterprises to Can Tho City; however, due to the impact of COVID-19, these activities had to be canceled.

The Chief Representative also mentioned the close relationship in educational cooperation between Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho University. In addition, the Office would like to receive continuous support from Can Tho City in the organization of TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) in Can Tho.  

Participants from Can Tho briefed the Office general information of Can Tho City, and proposed specific cooperation with Taiwanese partners, for instance: cooperation in technology for agricultural preservation and processing, technology for aquaculture raising environment, investment in Taiwanese industrial park in Can Tho, cultural-people to people-student exchanges between Taiwanese partners and Can Tho City, etc.

In particular, Can Tho Investment Promotion Agency introduced the Vietnam International Agriculture Fair, which would be organized in mid-November in Can Tho. In this event, the City is planning to have a Networking Workshop for Taiwanese companies; therefore, the City is looking forward to receiving the collaboration and support from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City in passing this information to potential Taiwanese enterprises for their participation.

Mr. Chung Wen Cheng noted down all suggestions by Can Tho delegation and reiterated his commitments in arranging his time to attend the Vietnam International Agriculture Fair this November. Besides, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City will also enhance the cooperation with Can Tho City in trade, economics, education and culture.
