Sakae Holdings Singapore to Can Tho City for Cooperation Opportunities in Investment and Trade

On 02 March, 2019, the aforementioned delegation led by Mr. Douglas Foo – President of the Sakae Holdings Singapore cum President of Singapore Manufacturing Federation paid a working visit to Can Tho Cty. Mr. Pham Van Hieu – Permanent Deputy Secretary  of Can Tho Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Municipal People's Council hosted and chaired a meeting with the delegation.

At the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Hieu conveyed his thankful messages to Mr. Douglas and his delegates for spending their time visiting the city regardless of the flight delay due to the summit in Hanoi. He then briefed the cooperation relationship between both countries with an emphasis on 2018's highlights, e.g. the 45^th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Singapore and the 5^th year of the strategic partnership.

Mr. Hieu continued his part by remarks on the City's recent cooperation status with Singapore and projects calling for Singaporean investments. In addition, he assigned various Departments and line agencies to closely liaise with the Singaporean side to prepare for his planned duty trip to Singapore in May, 2019.  To make the trip effective, he requested his counterpart to suggest collaborative areas to be included in a MoU for signing in May.

In response, Mr. Douglas Foo thanked Mr. Hieu and his staff for meeting acceptance and the warm welcome provided to himself and his delegates. He went on with a summary of his delegates' work in Da Nang prior the trip to Can Tho. Thereby, the team has cooperated with Da Nang for 15 months on the city master plan to support it to develop into a smart and modern urban area.

He suggested Can Tho City for the same master plan to have a comprehensive outlook on its development orientations in the future to ensure its sustainability. With his team's experience in Da Nang City, he was confident that the Singaporean side could help Can Tho City to become a smart and livable city but still remain its uniqueness, values, cultures and traditions.

He ended his part by ensuring Mr. Hieu his enthusiastic support to Can Tho City's trip to Singapore in May 2019.
