FOSTERING BILATERIAL COOPERATION IN ECONOMY, CULTURE BETWEEN CAN THO AND GIMCHEON - KOREA
On November 13 afternoon, Chairman of t Can Tho city People's Committee, Mr. Vo Thanh Thong received for Mayor of Gimcheon city Mr. Park Bo Saeng after he came to an exhibition in Ho Chi Minh city.
At the reception, Mr. Park Bo Saeng hailed Vietnam as a significant trade partner of Korea. He expressed his belief that bilateral relationship will further grow intensively and extensively, and suggested that both sides need to organize more workshops, fairs and exhibitions in order to connect Vietnamese and Korean businesses, particularly those from Can Tho and Gimcheon in the important aspects such as tourism, culture, agriculture and so on. He also informed his host that Korean enterprises hope to sell their agricultural machinery in Vietnam.
In turn, Chairman Vo Thanh Thong affirmed Can Tho always regards Korea as a strategic partner, a prestigious supplier and a promising export market. He highlighted the strong development in the Vietnam-RoK cooperative relations in all fields and described the RoK as one of the biggest trade and investment partners of Vietnam. The bilateral cooperation in science-technology, culture, education, and tourism has seen new strides, he added. The city is accelerating its export of seafood, garments-textiles, fertilisers and chemicals to the RoK while importing pharmaceutical and garment-textile materials from the market, he said.
Up to now, Can Tho has had 9 projects invested from Korea with a total investment of USD 247 million. In addition, the city also has an ODA project from Korea: Korea Vietnam Incubator Park Project with a total investment of USD 21.13 million, of which USD 17.7 million is non-refundable ODA from Korea.
