Distinguished guests of the International Francophonie Day in Can Tho

On the evening of 11 March, Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Bach, Vice Director of the Department of External Relations attended the opening ceremony of the International Francophonie Day in Can Tho. This annual event was organized to promote the teaching and learning of French in the Mekong Delta; it was also one of the key events to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France this year. There were musical performances, quizzes about France, and a seminar on French teaching methods.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that the City leadership highly appreciated the development of relationships with French partners, and valued the maintenance of the teaching French in local schools, as well as enhanced the skills for French-learning students.

Ms. Anne-Laure Vincent, French Cooperation Attaché, the French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City expressed her delight to participate in the International Francophonie Day in Can Tho. The Attaché was impressed with the maintenance of teaching and learning French in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta area, and she was willing to enhance the cultural and educational exchanges between the area and French partners.
