President Ho Chi Minh’s Alias Used to Name Road in Thailand
On February 04th 2017, a ceremony to inaugurate a road named Thau Chin – President Ho Chi Minh's alias – was solemnly held in Udon Thani province, Thailand. Thau Chin was the Thai alias used by President Ho Chi Minh when he lived in the country 89 years ago in the 1928 – 1929 period.

The road links Provincial Road 2263 and the Ho Chi Minh memorial site in Nong Hang village, Chiang Phin commune of Mueang district, Udon Thani province. It includes two branches: Thau Chin 1 with length of 850m and width of 6m and Thau Chin 2 with length of 160m and width of 4m.
Attendees of the event included Vu Hong Nam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Suchai Butsara, Vice Governor of Udon Thani province; Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador in Thailand; Nguyen Ngoc Son, Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen; representatives of Vietnamese-Thai Associations and hundreds of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - Vu Hong Nam stressed that during the time President Ho Chi Minh stayed in Thailand, he laid a firm foundation for the long-term friendship between Vietnam and Thailand. He also additionally affirmed that the inauguration and the road naming – Thau Chin were a lively evidence showing efforts by both countries to further tighten the existing good diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Thailand towards the benefits and bright futures of the 2 peoples.
