PM Received Outgoing Chinese Ambassador

On February 06th, 2018, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc received outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong who came to bid farewell at the end of his tenure in Vietnam.

At the reception, PM hailed and congratulated Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong for the successful completion of his tenure in Vietnam, thereby making an important contribution to promoting the neighborly friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and China.

Expressing his happiness towards the achieved progresses seen in the relationship of the two countries, PM emphasized that the results gained in the economic – trading field would continue one of the highlights in Vietnam-China cooperation. China continues Vietnam's largest trade partner while Vietnam has become its largest trader in ASEAN.

During the Ambassador's tenure, Vietnam – China trade turnovers nearly doubled in volume, from 58.78$ billion in 2014 to 93.69$ billion in 2017; Vietnam's excess of import over export from China tends to decrease. China is now ranked eighth among 125 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. It also tops the list of foreign tourists visiting Vietnam while Vietnam also ranks first in ASEAN in terms of the number of tourists to China.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Party and Government of Vietnam always treasure its neighborly friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with China. He suggested both sides continue implementing common perceptions of their senior leaders, Parties, strengthen political trust through high-level meetings; carry out three working groups on infrastructure, finance and monetary, and discuss win-win cooperation at sea; and well control disagreements and maintain peace and stability at sea in order to develop the Vietnam-China relation in a stable, healthy and sustainable manner.

Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong sincerely thanked PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Vietnamese Government and Ministries, localities for their provided favorable conditions helping him to fulfill his assignments during his tenure in Vietnam.

Sharing his joy and profound impression towards the strong socio-economic development of Vietnam as well as important progresses in the Vietnam-China relation, Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong affirmed that in any positions, he will always pay attention to boosting the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership to bring it to the next level.
