Can Tho City Expects to Expand Cooperation with the U.S.

On the afternoon of April 22nd 2021, Mr. Le Quang Mạnh – Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Hong – Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of relevant line agencies received the U.S. delegation led by Madam Marie C. Damour – Consul General of the U.S. in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the reception, the leader welcomed and briefed the delegation status on socio-economic development and development orientations of the city in various areas such as education, climate change, healthcare, investment promotion…

In regards to the climate change issue, Mr. Manh shared that the city has paid great attention to and expected to connect with U.S. scientists and institutions to develop long term and comprehensive solutions and plans to cope with climate change.

Mr. Manh highly evaluated U.S. investors' experience and strengths in renewable energy, education and healthcare. He, therefore, expressed his expectations to promote the cooperation relationship between both sides in the aforesaid areas.

The Secretary hoped his counterpart would continuously act as a link in introducing U.S. potential investors to and encouraging U.S-granted programs or projects to be implemented in Can Tho City.

Consul General Marie C. Damour thanked the leader for the warm welcome and showed her impression towards Vietnamese students' learning attitudes and commitments to support their families and country development.

The diplomat agreed to boost and tighten the cooperation relationship between the U.S. and Can Tho City in human resource development.

She shared that with its strengths in energy, infrastructure development, healthcare… the U.S. can be a good partner of the city to help it reach the development goals.

Before finishing her part, the Consul General said that she was completely confident in the future cooperation between the U.S. and Can Tho City and that the diplomacy relationship of both sides would be nurtured and further augmented.
