Welcoming the first official visit made by a high-ranking Nepalese leader to Viet Nam since the two sides set up diplomatic ties in 1975, PM Phuc highlighted the significance of the visit to the two nations' traditional friendship relations.

PM Sharma Oli expressed his delight to visit Viet Nam, his first destination in the Southeast Asia since he took office and extended his invitation to PM Phuc to visit Nepal soon.

At the talks, the two sides shared their common visions on strengthening the Viet Nam-Nepal traditional friendship relations in all spheres.

The two leaders were pleased with the outcomes of the visit, especially the signing of crucial documents like the agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of bilateral consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries, the Letter of intent on negotiating and signing the frame agreement on trade and investment cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and Nepalese Ministry of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

The pair said the above documents will create a foundation for the two sides to continue promoting the bilateral relationship in the time to come.

They consented to foster delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels and channels and organize practical activities to celebrate the 45th founding anniversary of the diplomatic ties in 2020.

They were unanimous to task their ministries and agencies to consider launching new cooperative mechanisms in such fields like economy, trade and investment to further step up bilateral cooperation in these areas.

Phuc suggested Nepal support Vietnamese enterprises to seek investment opportunities in all areas such as energy, infrastructure and telecommunications while the Nepalese PM asked Viet Nam to facilitate import of Nepal's products.

They agreed to accelerate cooperation in culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The Vietnamese side pledged to boost the establishment of Viet Nam-Nepal Friendship Association in Ha Noi in the time ahead.

The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in other potential areas such as science and technology, information and communications, aviation connectivity, security, logistics and natural disaster responses.

PM Phuc expected that the Nepalese Government will continue creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens living and working in Nepal with a view to making contributions to Nepal's economy and the two nations' relationship.

They shared common positions on regional and international issues of mutual concerns, affirming to continue close and mutual coordination at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese leader expressed his thanks to Nepal for advocating Viet Nam to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021 tenure.
