The UK and Viet Nam work together to accelerate the energy transition

On 19 April 2022, the British Embassy in Hanoi, together with the COP26 Energy Transition Council and the Viet Nam's Economic Committee Central organised the 2nd National Dialogue on Energy Transition with Viet Nam. The event is particularly important given that Viet Nam has made a strong commitment to its net zero emissions target by 2050.

The dialogue was led by the Vice Chairman of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Duc Hien, COP26 Regional Ambassador Ken O'Flaherty and British Ambassador to Viet Nam Gareth Ward. Participants discussed thoroughly core issues that require bespoke solutions from the government, development partners and the private sector. Potential opportunities and challenges were shared, and real-world examples contributing to energy transition, in both technical and financial aspects.
