Secretary of the Party Committee Welcomed Consul General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of 04^th April 2019, Mr. Tran Quoc Trung, Secretary of the City Party Committee hosted the reception for Mr. Lim Jae Hoon, Consul General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City. Presence at the working session also included Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and leaders of relevant Departments and line agencies.

Mr. Trung expressed his happiness towards the strong, comprehensive development of the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Korea, which becomes more intensive based on the common cultural and historical background. He highly appreciated the assistance by the Korean Government provided to Can Tho City via the Vietnam – Korea Incubator Park and the Project on Supporting Vietnam Agricultural Mechanization with the total investment of more than 23 million USD.

He briefed the Consul General with the investment status of Korean enterprises in Can Tho City, the bilateral trade between Can Tho City and Korea and FDI projects calling for Korean investment. Before ending his part, Mr. Trung expected for the continuous support from his counterpart in connecting Korean enterprises to Can Tho City so that they could further promote their investment activities in the city in the future.

Mr. Lim Jae Hoon noted the enthusiastic implementation of the New Southern Policy, of which Vietnam is considered one of its important partners. At present, the bilateral trade turnovers of the two countries reach 68 billion USD. In the South of Vietnam, approximately 3,000 Korean enterprises, among 7,000 in the whole country, are in operation.

Speaking of Can Tho City, Mr. Consul General suggested for the unceasing development of infrastructure for investment attraction, high quality tourism such as Cai Rang Floating Market, eco-tourism to attract Korean tourists.

He kindly requested support from the city authorities and relevant stakeholders provided to Korean projects. One of them was the Vietnam – Korea Community Center because it is the best connection to show the mutual empathy and share of the two peoples.

Before ending the working session, both side agreed to enhance the cooperation in export, import, cultural exchange and tourism sectors.
