Party chief receives German Chancellor
Party General Secretary Nguyen spoke highly of the Chancellor's official visit to Viet Nam, describing it as an important milestone in the bilateral ties. The visit came one year after Viet Nam and Germany marked the 10th founding anniversary of strategic partnership amidst complicated developments in the world.
The Party chief welcomed the outcomes of the talks between the Chancellor and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, as well as cooperation agreements signed by the two nations' ministries and sectors during the visit.
The host leader took this occasion to thank Germany for its cooperation with and support for Viet Nam over the years, including its donation of COVID-19 vaccines, which helped Viet Nam push back the pandemic, soon open its doors and boost socio-economic recovery.
In reply, Chancellor Scholz said that Germany treasures the Strategic Partnership with Viet Nam, and highly values Viet Nam's international role and position, including its role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
He outlined plans to implement the Strategic Partnership, and strengthen cooperation in traditional fields and expand to new areas such as energy transition, supply chain diversification, and defense and security cooperation.
The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation at international forums, promote the role of international law, and consolidate peace and development across regions.
