Vietnam and Japan on February 12 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in health care, implementing multiple projects and programmes.

Leaders from the Ministry of Health along with representatives from Kansai Medical University and the International Medical Society of Japan agreed to share experiences among medical workers, nurses and students.

They also agreed to strengthen the exchange of lecturers and research workers, build cooperative research programmes and bolster bilateral cooperation among hospitals, research institutes and universities.

At the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Le Quang Cuong said Japan has been one of Vietnam's largest ODA providers in the medical field with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) having funded many projects.

These projects have proved effective and sustainable and Vietnam is highly appreciative for all the assistance the JICA has provided, Cuong stressed.
