Australian Ambassador’s visit to Can Tho City.

On December 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, together with Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, and representatives of relevant departments and agencies hosted a meeting with Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski - Australian Ambassador to Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu said that Can Tho City was actively inviting strategic investors to invest in Can Tho City, especially in the fields of education, healthcare, and high-tech agriculture to adapt to climate change. Can Tho also needed resources to invest in infrastructure, especially projects related to preventing flooding, landslides, embankments, etc. The Secretary expressed his wish that Australia would continue to have coordinated support programs for Can Tho City in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general to attract many Australian investors to Can Tho City for investment cooperation. In addition, human resources training in the fields of agriculture, education and health, which are Australia's strengths, was also one of the city's priorities.

In response, Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski thanked the leaders of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the cordial welcome, and he highly appreciated the potentials, strengths and investment attraction orientation of Can Tho. The Australian Ambassador to Vietnam stated that he would support Can Tho to promote and introduce the local potential and strengths to Australian investors, thereby not only promoting investment cooperation relationships effective between Can Tho City and Australian investors, but also contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries as well as between localities of the two countries.

In particular, the Australian Government has provided practical support activities for Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region through the "Vietnam - Australia Climate Change Adaptation Program".

Besides, the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee introduced the potentials, strengths and some contents of the city planning announcement for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 to the Australian Embassy delegation. In the future, the two sides hoped to cooperate in implementing programs and projects related to education, healthcare, and agriculture, industry, and climate change.
