Visit by Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City

On 10 May 2022, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee received Mr. Daniel Stork, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City during his business trip to the City.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He shared that Can Tho always welcomed domestic and foreign businesses to cooperate and invest, especially in the hi-tech agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure areas. The city leader pledges to work along with the Dutch Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in promoting cooperation programs between the two sides. Can Tho City hoped that the Dutch diplomat would enhance cooperation on climate change adaptation, education and training, as well as agricultural development.

In 2023, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Vietnam, the Vice Chairman expected the Dutch Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to coordinate with Can Tho to organize activities to celebrate this event in the city.

Consul General Stork highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between the Netherlands and Vietnam, including Can Tho City and believed that this cooperation relationship was growing better than ever. With the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) already in effect, trade activities between the two countries would continue to increase.

On the same day, the Consul General also participated in the consultation workshop organized by The Ocean Cleanup (TOC), a Dutch non-governmental organization, to discuss with related departments and agencies in Can Tho about the sustainable solutions for plastic waste collection using the Interceptor 003, which was launched and handed over in early April 2022.
