Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City to visit Can Tho

On 28 April 2022, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien hosted a courtesy meeting with the Russian Consul General Timur Sadykov on his first visit to the City.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien informed the diplomat on the potentials and priorities calling for investment in Can Tho, including processing industry, manufacturing, high-tech agriculture, etc. The city leader also asked the Consul General for his support in promoting Can Tho City to Russian enterprises and investors. In addition, Vice Chairman Nguyen suggested the two sides work together to organize cultural exchanges, such as Russian Cultural Day in Can Tho, to enhance the understanding between two peoples. The city leader also expressed his interest in signing twin cities cooperation with a Russian locality, besides the preparation of signing MOU between Can Tho and Mordovia in the upcoming time.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien strongly believed that in the Consul General's tenure in Ho Chi Minh City, the diplomat would connect and enhance more cooperation activities between Russian and Vietnamese localities, including Can Tho, contributing to the rapid development of the two countries' strategic partnership.

Consul General Timur Sadykov stated, on his side, that he would do best to strengthen the relations between Russia and Vietnam in general, Russian partners and Can Tho City in particular. The diplomat also looked forward to receiving the support from local authorities for future cooperation. He also informed that the signing of MOU between Mordovia and Can Tho was in progress, and Mordovia delegation would visit Can Tho the following year to sign this MOU.
