Lao CG discuss the establishment of Laos - Vietnam Trade, Culture and Tourism Center in Can Tho

On the morning of November 10, Ms. Phimpha KEOMIXAY - Lao Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City and a number of Lao businesses came to work with leaders of the City People's Committee on the establishment of the Lao - Vietnam Trade, Culture and Tourism Center in Can Tho city (Center). Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien chaired and worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, Consul General Phimpha KEOMIXAY presented the establishment of Laos - Vietnam Trade, Culture and Tourism Center in Can Tho city. The Lao Consul General emphasized that the Center would be a meeting place, cultural exchange, and welcoming place for high-ranking delegations of the two countries and international guests to work, visit and work in the Mekong Delta in general and Can Tho city in particular. It is expected that the land fund to build the Center is 1 hectare, with FDI capital from Laos or a joint venture between Lao enterprises and Can Tho enterprises. The Consul General also wished that there would be a Vietnam - Laos Trade, Culture and Tourism Center similar to Can Tho City in XiengKhouang Province.

In response, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien expressed his delight and appreciation to the Consul General and the members of the delegation who came to work in Can Tho city and welcomed the idea of ​​establishing the Center. If this Center were invested with 100% capital of Lao enterprises, this would be the first FDI project of Laos in Can Tho City and could be considered as a typical project for the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general and Can Tho City - Laos in particular.

In order to promote the establishment of the Center, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien suggested that the two sides study more about the legal regulations of the two countries to agree on the process and procedures for applying for permission to establish this Center, to ensure the proper implementation of the laws of the two countries; the vity leader hoped that the Laos - Vietnam Trade, Culture and Tourism Center in Can Tho will soon be deployed and implemented.
