Consultation meeting with USAID Vietnam

Hình đại diện

On the morning of April 6, 2022, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Vietnam collaborated with Can Tho City Department of Planning and Investment to have a meeting with relevant departments and agencies to brainstorm the initial ideas for the Local Capacity Development (LCD) Project.

The project is to support the capacity of and engagement between local government and local organizations, leading to more transparent policy-making and implementation processes and better delivery of services to Vietnamese citizens. By supporting this form of engagement, USAID aims to demonstrate the value of open, evidence-based engagement between local actors, leading over the long term to further collaboration between government and local organizations on issues of local importance. It is expected that the project will start in October this year and last until September 2027.

There are three components in the LCD Project, including a forum for local issue identification and action, local government and organization capacity building, and

public service solution implementation.

For each component, USAID has highlighted the expected deliverables, such as: capacity strengthening of local government entities, capacity strengthening of local organizations, high-quality analyses completed, priority issues and solutions identified, success stories, lessons learned, innovations, or case studies, and additional resources mobilized.

From the city perspectives, leaders and representatives of local departments and agencies have provided their comments and feedbacks on the project components and activities. They also suggested USAID consider adding some further areas to be included in the LCD Project, based on the demands of the city.
