Can Tho City promotes cooperation in education and high-tech agriculture to Australia

On the afternoon of September 11, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee welcomed the Australian delegation led by Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City. The two sides discussed the cooperation plans for the future, especially in the fields of education and high-tech agriculture.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, this year marked 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia, proving the long-standing relationship and solid attachment between the two countries. In the field of education, Can Tho City is currently implementing the project "Developing and raising awareness of creative education", sponsored by the Asia Music Performing Arts Education. Beside, Can Tho City is coordinating with the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to deploy Direct Aid Programs in the field of rural clean water, and rural bridge construction,... helping Can Tho City develop socio-economically.

The Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee hoped that the Australian Consul General would support educational connection activities, such as building Australian Spaces at universities in Can Tho City and provide more scholarships to study in Australia for excellent students, officials and lecturers.

Regarding the field of high-tech agriculture, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee said Can Tho City hoped Australian partners would be interested in cooperating in the application of science and technology to improve the quality of human resources, farming and processing agricultural products efficiency.

In addition, Can Tho City wanted to attract Australian businesses to invest in priority fields such as information and communications, preservation and processing of agricultural and aquacultural products, infrastructure for smart urban development.

Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City expressed her joy when witnessing the outstanding development of Can Tho City in many aspects.

The Consul General pledged to have many activities to promote the friendship between Vietnam and Australia, including Can Tho City.

She also announced that from September 18 to 19, the Australian Embassy in Hanoi would coordinate with Can Tho City to organize conferences to introduce Australian education and cuisine. This activity would have the participation of the Australian businesses to learn about the investment environment in Can Tho.
