Can Tho City donates 500 million VND to provinces in Southern Laos in the fight against COVID-19

On behalf of Can Tho City, Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Bach, Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Affairs, has handed over 500 million Vietnamese dong to the Consulate General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City. This amount is for 4 provinces in Southern Laos to support them in the fight against COVID-19, in particular, Champasak 150 million VND, Savannakhet 150 million VND, Salavan 100 million VND, and Sekong 100 million VND.

The amount of money was raised from Can Tho Lottery One-member Co. Ltd., and received by the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Can Tho City. The Front then handed to the Department of Foreign Affairs for the direct donation at Lao Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

On behalf of the the Consulate General and the government and people of the 4 province, Ms. Phimpha Keomixay, Consul General, expressed her appreciation to Can Tho City in its donation to 4 province in the south of Laos, regarding the context that Can Tho is also focusing on its own fight against COVID-19. Consul General Keomixay hoped that Can Tho would soon control the number of positive COVID cases and develop the economy and society at the same time.

On this occasion, the two sides also discussed the co-organization of activities in Can Tho to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of Vietnam – Laos diplomatic relations in 2022. Consul General Keomixay looked forward to her visit and meet with Can Tho leaders at the earliest possible time.
