Year's End Party for Expats in Can Tho City
The aforesaid event, which aimed at bringing expats living, working and studying in Can Tho city a chance for getting together after stressful working and studying moments, was hosted and organized by the Municipal People's Committee on December 08th, 2017 to welcome the year of the dog, 2018. It is also an occasion for city leaders to strengthen a relationship with international friends and to listen to their expectations and shared thoughts during their stay in the city.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Van Tam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee emphasized that 2017 was a special year for the country in general and Can Tho city in particular. In fact, 2017 marked an important milestone in the city's role, development and image which was reflected via the GRDP growth rate of approximately 7.83%; effective implementation of foreign projects and programs; the organization of the APEC High-Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture In Respond to Climate Change, the Conference on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Development of the Mekong Delta area, and the 3rd Vietnam – Japan Cultural and Trade Exchange Festival, etc.
Additionally, Mr. Tam pointed out that the achievements could not be gained without efforts by both local government, its citizens, and contributions of expats in Can Tho. The party, therefore, in addition to the above reasons, was an opportunity for the local authorities to show appreciation towards expats' contributions to the development and prosperity of the city. He hoped that on the one hand, the city could continuously receive such support and contributions in the future. and on the other hand, Can Tho city is committed to creating favorable conditions for foreigners to do business, study and live here.
