Launch of science, technology and innovation reports.

This morning (03 November 2021), the World Bank in Vietnam collaborated with Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam to organize the launching ceremony of science, technology and innovation reports.

The science, technology, and innovation (STI) reports provide analytical support for Vietnam's upcoming ten-year STI strategy 2021-2030 and the socio-economic development strategy (SEDS) 2021-2030. The STI report and the accompanying policy brief have been prepared in response to a request from the Ministry of Science and Technology. The policy brief summarizes the key findings, recommendations, and lays out a STI roadmap to guide priority actions towards supporting business innovation in Vietnam. As COVID-19 triggered economic shock continues to spread globally and its impact deepens in Vietnam, the importance of technology adoption and innovation for business resilience as well as for productive growth has been amplified.

Based on the SWOT analysis of Vietnam's STI system, some key recommendations have been made for the country, including: improving framework conditions for innovation and public governance of the innovation system, strengthening the human resource base for innovation, fostering innovation in the business sector, increasing the contribution of public research, and fostering innovation linkages.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Minister of Science and Technology, provides his opening remarks.
