Rural Bridges for Citizens in Phong Dien and Thoi Lai Districts

Department of External Relations in Can Tho city provided support in administrative procedures to the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh city to conduc a site survey to remote communes with difficult transportation conditions in Phong Dien and Thoi Lai districts of Can Tho city. Mr. Sato Kakuro, Vice Consul acted as a group leader during the trip.

The trip was carried out within the framework of the Grant program to construct 08 rural bridges whose application procedures were supported by the Department of External Relations. After the survey, upon approval, citizens at 08 areas of Truong Long, My Khanh, Nhon Ai, Dinh Mon, Giai xuan and Truong Xuan communes in Phong Dien and Thoi Lai districts would receive a grant provided by the Japanese government to build bridges.

Although the project value is not much in terms of its provided amount, it brings a great meaning to the local citizens residing in the above-mentioned areas. It does not only help rural citizens transport more easily, reduce number of children falling down during the rainy season, but also contribute to successfully implementing the new rural program of the Government in Can Tho city and tightening friendship between people of 2 countries, between the Consulate General of Japan and Can Tho city.
