VN, US celebrate 20th anniversary of normalization of relations
With the thinking of looking forward, the two nations have made efforts to overcome the past and form the future relations, said the Deputy PM, adding that Viet Nam has become one of the largest exporters to the US in ASEAN while the US is among seven largest investors in Viet Nam.
The two sides have continued to strengthen political relations and mutual knowledge by exchanging delegations at all levels and effective dialogue mechanisms. Especially, the two nations established Comprehensive Partnership relationship in 2013.
Viet Nam and the US have made crucial contributions to peace, cooperation and development in the world and the Asia-Pacific.
On the occasion, Deputy PM Minh expressed his thanks to the people who have joined hands to promote the two nations' relationship and cooperation.
He also thanked huge efforts and contributions of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in enhancing the Comprehensive Partnership and maintaining regional peace, stability and development.
Mr. Bill Clinton congratulated Viet Nam on its wide-ranging achievements, asserting the importance and historical meaning of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's future visit to the US.
The visit will create a chance for the US people to know more about Viet Nam's nation and people and how the nation has changed over the past 20 year, he added./.
