VN always treasures traditional friendly relations with Canada: PM
The PM made the remark at a reception for former Canadian PM Jean Chretien in Ha Noi on May 18.
He spoke highly of the guest's fine sentiments towards Viet Nam as well as his significant contributions to promoting Viet Nam-Canada ties.
Applauding Chretien's proposal for cooperation in aviation, PM Phuc asked the Canadian side to soon work with the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) to specifically discuss the issue.
He also noted that accelerating trade and investment is a righteous and key direction in bilateral relations.
Via Chretien, the Vietnamese leader extended his invitation to the Canadian PM to pay an official visit to Viet Nam and attend the APEC Summit to be held in the country.
For his part, the former Canadian PM said that Canadian businesses wish to seek business and investment opportunities in Viet Nam, particularly in the field of airport management and operation.
The business model planned by the Canadian side is that airports are owned by the State and operated by businesses, with funding sources from Canadian banks, he said, adding that this model is capable of satisfying the Vietnamese side's demand as the Southeast Asian country is in need of capital for infrastructure development.
Canada has abundant experience in ensuring security for international-level conference, which can be shared with Viet Nam in ensuring security for the APEC summit, Chretien noted.- The French Development Agency delegation pays a working visit to Can Tho City
