Vietnamese, Chinese Party chiefs hold phone talks

Party leader Trong congratulated China on its achievements in socio-economic development, Party and law-governed state building over the past year and extended best wishes to Chinese people on the occasion of the new year.

He emphasized that the traditional friendship between the two neighbors, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong together with generations of the two countries' predecessors, has become an important factor for the success of the revolution cause in each country and a valuable asset that the two nations should inherit, maintain and uphold.

The two sides' comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership needs to be further promoted for the benefit of each country and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Party General Secretary Trong said that both sides should further strengthen mutual understanding and trust, consolidate their friendship, and foster cooperation for mutual benefits in various fields, including preservation of peace and stability, sincere talks and exchanges for satisfactory settlement of issues in the East Sea in accordance with their reached agreements as well as international law and practices to serve the healthy and stable development of the Viet Nam-China relations.

On behalf of the Chinese Party, Government and people, Chinese President Xi congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam over the past 85 years.

President Xi stressed that the traditional friendship, mutual support and assistance are the precious properties of the two Parties and States during the past 65 years.

The Chinese Party, Government and people greatly attach importance to the friendship with the Vietnamese Party, State and people, hoping to work with the Vietnamese side to enhance mutual trust and friendship, deepen cooperation for mutual benefits in various fields, satisfactorily settle divergences on the basis of the common perception of the two countries' leaders, and foster bilateral ties in a healthy manner.

During the phone talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on major orientations to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the time to come, especially high-level exchanges./.
