At a March 11 reception for Slovakian Justice Minister Tomas Borec in Hanoi, PM Dung glowingly spoke of the time-honoured friendship between the two nations, adding that Vietnam will never forget the valuable support Slovakia gave to Vietnam in the past struggles for national independence and reunification.

Dung also appreciated the Slovakian Minister's Vietnam visit that took place at a time of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations that will significantly contribute to promoting the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Regarding the outcome of talks between Tomas Borec and his Vietnamese counterpart Ha Hung Cuong, the government leader suggested the two ministries should intensify practical experience in fine-tuning the legal system, promulgating laws and applying conventions of the Hague Conference as well as broader cooperation in personnel training and law education.

On the occasion, PM Dung extended an invitation to visit Vietnam to the Slovakian PM aiming to discuss relation promotion measures.

For his part, Minister Tomas Borec said he hopes his Vietnam visit will help further cooperation between the two justice ministries, especially in the exchange of information about judicial reform and drafting of law-regulated documents.

He also hailed the Vietnam-Slovakia cooperation in numerous fields, notably economics and national defence, noting that the Vietnamese community's successful integration servers as a bridge for promoting the friendly relations between the two countries.

At an earlier talks the same day Borec and Cuong signed a two-year cooperation programme agreement.

Among cooperation activities included in the programme are law training and education, the application of conventions of the La Hay conference on international justice, and the provision of legal assistance to ensure citizens' legal rights and interests.

The programme is seen as a step towards fulfilling commitments stipulated in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2014 in Bratislava.

The two ministers also briefed each other on law and justice reforms and discussed areas of expertise in law enforcement.
