Viet Nam supports initiatives on trade and regional connectivity
Việt Nam supports initiatives on trade and regional connectivity, including the Belt and Road Initiative, President Trần Đại Quang said at a roundtable discussion yesterday as part of the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China.
Việt Nam is willing to work with other nations to study and implement projects that could bring mutual benefits and sustainability, he said.
He proposed that the Belt and Road partnership be in line with the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and prioritise practical projects and equal collaboration.
The President also talked about Việt Nam's efforts to connect transport with neighbouring countries and help landlocked nations take part in global trade.
He stressed the necessity of effective transport infrastructure to connect countries and regions across the globe. He said to devise a long-term plan for transport connectivity, international institutions could study overall conditions and suggest key sectors for investment.
Quang took the occasion to brief participants on the APEC Year 2017 hosted by Việt Nam and noted that Việt Nam has been working with APEC member economies to push ahead the Asia-Pacific partnership.
On the same day, President Quang had meetings with leaders from Laos, Russia, Belarus, Chile, Italy, Argentina and Myanmar on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum.
He met with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawar Sharif and Secretary General of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party Toshihiro Nakai on Sunday.
President Quang left Beijing for Việt Nam yesterday, concluding the five-day visit to China./.
