State President visits Saint Petersburg
Governor Georgy Pontavchenko warmly welcomed the visit of State President Quang and the Vietnamese delegation and emphasized that Viet Nam is an important partner of the Russian City. So far, Saint Petersburg has already set up close ties with HCMC and Khanh Hoa province.
According to Governor Georgy Pontavchenko, education and training are important fields of cooperation between Saint Petersburg and Vietnamese localities.
Saint Petersburg businesses are doing effective operation in Viet Nam in such areas as machinery manufacturing, electronic equipment production, harbour infrastructure development, and clean water treatment.
Governor was convinced that the official visit of Mr. Quang would generate a driving force for the two countries to spur economic, commercial and trade ties.
In reply, State President Quang thanked Governor Georgy Pontavchenko and Saint Petersburg's people for their warm welcome and expressed his delight to witness robust developments in the city which deserves as a big economic, cultural, tourism, and educational centre of Russia.
The State President welcomed the cooperation between Saint Petersburg and the Vietnamese localities and highly valued the working visit of the Governor and leading Saint Petersburg businesses to Viet Nam late 2015. Mr. Quang also affirmed that the State of Viet Nam will create every favourable way for localities to beef up direct cooperation in effective and practical manner.
Statistics showed that two-way trade turnover between Saint Petersburg and Vietnamese cities and provinces hit US$ 100 million in Q1, 2017./.
