Online Conference with Vietnamese Ambassadors, Consul Generals Abroad for the 2021 – 2024 Term

On the afternoon of October 18^th 2021, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Mr. To Anh Dung chaired the online conference between the delegation of Vietnamese Ambassadors, Consul Generals (hereinafter referred to as heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions) abroad for the 2021 – 2024 term and leaders of key economic zones in the Southern and Mekong Delta regions. Attendees of the event in Can Tho City were Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee and leaders of relevant line agencies.

The conference was a great chance for 28 heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad to listen to the needs from 19 localities in the Southern and Mekong regions on strengthening foreign economic cooperation, overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and recovering the economy in the post-pandemic period.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hong as well as leaders of the remaining 18 localities provided briefings on the current international cooperation statuses, potentials, projects calling for foreign investments in various fields such as technology, clean energy, healthcare, education and training, climate change, industry…As a closure of his speech, the Deputy Chairman requested that the heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions during their term abroad would continue supporting Can Tho City in exchanging and organizing conferences, seminars online or in person, implementing specific activities with foreign partners while  paying attention to introducing investors from other countries to Can Tho for investment into its prioritized projects.

In response to the "calls" from 19 localities, representatives from the delegation acknowledged shared information and proposals. They were committed to joining hands, giving supports to localities and enterprises in the Southern region in acting as a bridge to introduce interested partners, enhancing international integration to serve for the socio-economic development of the localities in the future.
