Japan Supports Socio-Economic Development In Vietnam
The Japanese Government will provide ¥112.414 billion in Official Development Assistance (ODA) for seven programs and projects in Viet Nam that are aimed for socio-economic development, attracting more foreign investment and international integration.
Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh and Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Hiroshi Fukada on March 31 signed a diplomatic note on the loans for Viet Nam in the fiscal year 2014.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Hiroshi Fukada revealed that the diplomatic note has shown the Japanese Government's assistance for Viet Nam to be expanded beyond infrastructure upgrades to education and health.
Viet Nam attaches importance to Japan's assistance over the past 20 years and expects to receive more ODA from the country in the future, asserted Minister Vinh.
He confirmed that the two sides will make a list of projects funded by Japan's ODA for the fiscal year 2015, which will be inked on the occasion of PM Nguyen Tan Dung's visit to Japan in next July.
The loans will be allocated to the construction of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh section of the north-south expressway, the Thai Binh 1 thermo-power plant and its power transmission line, a credit project for power networks, the second stage of the Nhon Trach water supply project, water drainage and treatment in Ha Long city, upgrades to Can Tho university, and the fifth cycle of a climate change response program.
