Darco Vietnam explores investment opportunities in Can Tho.

On the afternoon of January 18, 2024, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu and leaders of relevant departments and agencies had a meeting with Mr. Lim Chuan Hui, Director of Darco Vietnam and his team members.

Darco Vietnam is a member of Darco Water Technology Singapore specializing in environment, water supply, wastewater treatment, and so on. Besides its headquarters in Singapore, Darco has representative offices in China, Malaysia, and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City). Darco started its business in Vietnam in 2017, and it is the project owner of Darco Ba Lai water plant in Ben Tre province with the capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per day. On this visit to Can Tho City, the company would like to explore investment opportunities, especially in water sector.

The city secretary emphasized the importance of water in the development of Can Tho and the Mekong Delta; as a result, it is crucial to hold, use, and treat water effectively. Secretary Nguyen Van Hieu said that the water area was in high demand in Can Tho, with its major project of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) and other industrial parks, so it was the right time and decision for Darco to invest in the water sector. In addition, the city leader also encouraged Darco to look into the newly-approved socio-economic master plan of Can Tho, which covered hundreds of sectors for investment, to explore other investment potentials.

The two sides also mentioned the saline intrusion situation in some provinces in the Mekong Delta, and agreed that this issue might lead to high demand in water treatment and supply in the upcoming time.

Secretary Nguyen Van Hieu mentioned the Thot Not area as the planned venue for the city water treatment plant with the expected capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day. Upon completion, this water plant would not only serve Can Tho but also neighboring provinces like Dong Thap and An Giang.

Secretary Hieu assigned Department of Planning and Investment to be the focal point for collaborating with Darco to help the company with further information on mentioned projects for the latter's investment proposal in Can Tho.
