Can Tho City Department of External Relations is receiving registration for COVID-19 booster and additional vaccine shots for foreigners

Based on Plan No. 255/KH-UBND dated 21 December 2021 by Can Tho City People's Committee on adjusting the COVID-19 vaccination for booster and additional shots in Can Tho City, the City Department of External Relations is announcing the receiving of registration for booster and additional shots for foreigners in Can Tho. The deadline for the registration is 10 January 2022.

In accordance with the guidelines of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health at document No. 10722/BYT-DP dated 17 December 2021, booster and additional shots are defined as follow.

1. Additional shots:

- For whom: people aged 18 or more who have completed the primary course of vaccination, people who have received two doses of Sinopharm's Vero Cell or Sputnik V vaccines, and people who suffer from moderate to severe immunodeficiency.

- Type of vaccine: same type with the one used in the primary course or mRNA vaccine.

- Waiting time between the previous dose:  the additional dose is administered from 28 days to three months after the last vaccine dose.

People with medical authorities' indication to receive the additional dose can be considered to have completed the primary course after getting the additional dose.

2. Booster shots:

- For whom: people aged 18 or more who have completed the primary course of vaccination.

- Type of vaccine: same type with the one used in the primary course or mRNA vaccine. If one received the first and second doses of different vaccines, the booster dose will be mRNA vaccines. If the primary course's vaccine is Sinopharm, one is eligible for another booster Sinopharm shot or mRNA vaccines or vector virus vaccines (e.g. AstraZeneca).

- Waiting time between the previous dose: the booster shot can be administered at least three months after the last dose of the primary course.
