“Overcoming challenges, seizing opportunities, cooperating for development”.
The conference at Can Tho City connection point
That is the topic of the conference between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and businesses and foreign investors in Vietnam on the morning of September 17 in Hanoi. Attending the conference were Mr. Pham Binh Minh - Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, and leaders of central ministries and agencies. The conference was in both virtual and in-person formats. At Can Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc He led the group, yogether with leaders of local departments, agencies and businesses.
At the conference, the delegates heard from ministries, central agencies, foreign business associations in Vietnam, enterprises, local People's Committees, including Can Tho city, sharing information about international and domestic context, opportunities and challenges, solutions to seize investment cooperation opportunities in the new situation, investment capital flow trends in the world and assessment of business investment environment in Vietnam, implementing policies and preparing conditions to welcome foreign investment inflows into Vietnam, etc. Foreign business associations have also provided and reported problems and difficulties of their members during their business investment and operation in Vietnam, and at the same time recommend and propose appropriate policies and laws.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the contributions of foreign businesses and investors in Vietnam over the past time. He emphasized the sharing of difficulties with businesses due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister affirmed that foreign investment is an important part of economic development of the country; therefore, Vietnam would continue to create all conditions for a favorable, safe and transparent environment for foreign investors to feel secure to make long-term investments in Vietnam "with the spirit of equality, mutual development, mutual benefit, mutual responsibility to society, employees, environmental protection".
For foreign investment, Vietnam advocates selective investment attraction and cooperation, taking quality, efficiency, technology and environmental protection as the main evaluation criteria. Also, priority should be given to attracting projects in the fields of high technology, innovation, research and development; create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the value chain; promote the digital economy, green economy, circular economy and actively contribute to sustainable development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the opinions and recommendations of delegates at the conference would contribute to helping businesses and foreign investors in Vietnam as well as the Vietnamese economy overcome challenges, grasp seize opportunities for cooperation and development in the near future.
Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to be the prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to seriously absorb the opinions of the delegates to complete and soon issue the Directive of the Prime Minister on increasing foreign investment, and continue to give feedback and clarify issues raised at the Conference./.
